Dale Partridge is a Serial Entrepreneur and business visionary, and in the book he

reveals his formula for creating businesses that are both sustainable and successful!

Here is our take on the highlights from the book…

Part One: 4 eras of the organizational lifecycle

Partridge argues that all Companies evolve just as Humans age and defines four eras of the organizational life cycle that many companies go through: The honest Era, The efficient Era, the deceptive Era, and the apologetic Era.

#1 The Honest Era – People OVER Profit.

The honest Era is Captivated by values, and at this point, authenticity, craftsmanship, quality, and integrity are all at the core of the company.

#2 The Efficient Era – People AND Profit.

This is when a company is at its prime, and values and people are still at its core! But, as the company grows, minor deviations and subtle exceptions pop up to make room for further growth and efficiency.

#3 The Deceptive era – Profit OVER People!

This is a time where growth, efficiency, and greed ‘become King’ while values, ethics, and authenticity slowly fades into the background

#4 the Apologetic era – a revolutionary act.

This Era is all about restoring trust, faith, and hope. A time to put Transparency and compassion at the forefront. A time for righting wrongs and for improving both inside and outside. Often Leadership is replaced, and the focus on values and authenticity is restored.

Part two: Breaking the cycle – Seven core beliefs

Now that we know about the four eras, Dale Partridge shows us a way to break the cycle! A chance to start in the Honest Era and Stay there even as the company grows and evolves.

Through his research, Partridge found 7 core beliefs shared by most successful companies. 7 core beliefs that aren’t necessarily a ‘known known’ but that nonetheless permeates the entire organization. They are as follows:

  1. People matter!
  2. Truth wins.
  3. Transparency frees
  4. Authenticity attracts
  5. Quality speaks
  6. Generosity returns
  7. Courage sustains
