Today’s video is a short summary of Stephen R. Covey‘s bestselling book “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”.

The book which was first published back in 1989 is a business and self-help book stating 7 habits that will help you develop a sound character and a set of positive principles that can lead to self-improvement.

Habit number one – Be proactive. The number one thing you need to focus on is to take action and be responsible for your own life.

Habit number two – Begin with the end in mind. To “begin with the end in mind” requires a clear vision of where you want to go. You need to think about your goals, values and priorities.

Habit number three – put first things first. This habit is all about priorities! You need to realise that it’s all right to say no when necessary and spend your time focusing on your highest priorities.

Habit number four – Think Win/Win. Two wins make everyone better off!

Habit number five – Seek first to understand, then to be understood. Seek first to understand, then to be understood yourself.

Habit number six – Synergize. The whole is greater than the sums of its parts.

Habit number seven – Sharpen the saw. This habit is best explained by this anecdote…:” imagine you were to meet a man in the woods working to saw down a tree: – “What are you doing”? You ask. – “Can’t you see? I’m sawing down this tree”. – “You look exhausted!” “How long have you been at it?” – “Over five hours”. “And I am beat, this is hard work”. – “well why don’t you take a break for a few minutes and sharpen the saw? “I am sure it would go a lot faster” – “I don’t have time to sharpen the saw” the man says empathetically. “I am too busy sawing!”.

And Remember! Habits don’t form overnight. It takes time, practice and self-discipline to develop new ways. So, start slowly and set manageable goals and success will be yours!!
