The Infinite Game By Simon Sinek

I am a big fan of @Simon Sinek – His internationally bestselling book ‘Start with Why’ has been one of my guiding stars when creating BigIdeasGrowingMinds, and I try to stay true to ‘my why’ in my personal life as well. So naturally, I was excited this week when I set out to read another one of his books: The Infinite Game.

In a nutshell, The Infinite Game offers a framework for living and leading with an infinite mindset. Having an infinite mindset means staying true to your values and having a significant cause as your guiding star. It means reflecting on the effects of your decisions and taking responsibility for any consequences of the choices you make.

It means playing for the sake of playing instead of always trying to win.

It’s a great book that I can only recommend to others. Should you find yourself short on time, you can start by watching our animated summary by clicking this link

Start with Why By Simon Sinek

Todays Big Ideas comes from Simon Sinek and his groundbreaking book “Start With Why”.

“Start with Why” explores the fundamental question of why some organizations succeed while others don’t, and It opens up the discussion on why successful companies and their employees are more inspired and more motivated to achieve their goals.

As the title of the book suggests he proposes that companies do this by “Starting with why”. Sinek believes that people don’t buy “What you do”, they buy “Why you do it”. He introduces a powerful concept called “The Golden Circles” to back this belief.

There are 3 elements to the golden circles; “What”, “How” and “Why”.

What: Simply defines the activities of a business. This part is usually pretty self-explanatory and hence the easiest to articulate.

How: The way “the what” is achieved. What makes your business and your product or services special, different or better?

And finally,…. Why! Why does your company exist in the first place? What is your Mission? What are your goals, Your cause and Your fundamental beliefs?
